People come to church looking for solutions to all sorts of problems. But the solutions offered by the church are often lacking. Based on their book The Solution of Choice, Marcus Warner and Jim Wilder will take a deeper dive into why so many “good solutions” don’t seem to work, and how building a hesed-community can make all the difference.
Session 1: “Positively Medieval” – Medieval scholars developed a view of humanity that is still driving modern theology and therapy. We will discuss this model and how it needs to change.
Session 2: “Four Good Ideas” – The Enlightenment, Voluntarism, Modernism, and Post-modernism have shaped the church more than most realize. We will take a closer look at four good ideas that neutralized Western Christianity.
Session 3: “Building a Hesed-Community” – Drs. Wilder and Warner will tackle the issue of how to build the kind of community that produces mature disciples.
Wrap-Up – Q&A: Time will be allotted for Q&A toward the end of the live online event
This online event is a rare opportunity to hear Dr. Marcus Warner and Dr. Jim Wilder have an in-depth conversation about where things have gone wrong in the church’s attempts to foster change, and offer viable solutions that can bring true transformation.
